OUR PARTNERS

The NCSCP continues to seek input from over 27 partner organizations as it implements and revises a landscape-level strategic conservation plan for the NC Sandhills. Additionally, representatives of North Carolina landowners, consulting foresters, pine needle harvesters, and the real estate industry attend meetings and participate in the working groups that handle the general activities of the partnership because they have an interest in the NCSCP's dealings.

The mission of the Nature Conservancy's North Carolina Chapter is to preserve the plants, animals, and plant communities that represent the diversity of the Sandhills of North Carolina by protecting the land and water they need to survive.

The mission of the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg is to ensure the Army's current and future realistic training requirements are met in harmony with our environment and natural resources, with special emphasis on communities composed of longleaf pine and wiregrass.

U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE

The mission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. In the North Carolina Sandhills, the Service's priority is to promote the recovery of the red-cockaded woodpecker and other endangered, threatened and federal species of concern endemic to the longleaf pine ecosystem.

NC STATE PARKS

The mission of the state parks system is to conserve and protect representative examples of the natural beauty, ecological features and recreational resources of statewide significance; to provide outdoor recreational opportunities in a safe and healthy environment; and to provide environmental education opportunities that promote stewardship of the state's natural heritage.

The mission of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is to manage, restore, develop, cultivate, conserve, protect and regulate North Carolina's wildlife resources.

NC WILDLIFE RESOURCES COMMISSION

The Sandhills Ecological Institute's three primary goals involving longleaf pine and related ecosystems in North and South Carolina are: to conduct research; to promote scientific study; and to engage in education regarding the red-cockaded woodpecker and its habitats.

The mission of the Three Rivers Land Trust is to conserve the best natural areas, rural landscapes, family farms, and historic places in the Central Piedmont and Sandhills.

The mission of the North Carolina Forest Service is to protect, manage and promote forest resources for the citizens of North Carolina.

NC FOREST SERVICE

By gathering and sharing information about rare species and natural communities, North Carolina’s Natural Heritage Program ensures public access to information that is needed to weigh the ecological significance of natural areas and to evaluate potential ecological impacts of conservation and development projects.

The mission of the NC Department of Transportation is to connect people, products and places safely and efficiently with customer focus, accountability and environmental sensitivity to enhance the economy and vitality of North Carolina

The mission of the Longleaf Alliance is to ensure a sustainable future for longleaf pine ecosystems. They work throughout the Southeast U.S. to guide longleaf restoration, stewardship, and conservation using science-based outreach, partnership engagement, and on-the-ground assistance.

The mission of the NCDA's Plant Conservation Program is to is to conserve the native plant species of North Carolina in their natural habitats, now and for future generations.

The mission of the USFS is to achieve quality land management under the sustainable multiple-use management concept to meet the diverse needs of people.

U.S. FOREST SERVICE

The mission of the USDA's NRCS program is to deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.

NATURAL RESOURCES CONSERVATION SCIENCE

The mission of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences is to illuminate the natural world, inspire its conservation, and work towards achieving a knowledgeable and empowered society that makes decisions informed by science.

NC MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCES

The NC Sandhills PBA connects landowners and the general public to training, equipment, and educational programs to increase effectiveness and safety of prescribed fires on private lands. PBAs help manage risk by ensuring appropriate preparations are in place before each burn, including assisting with burn plans, procuring equipment, creating adequate fire breaks, and helping ensure a sufficient team of support is present.

NC SANDHILLS PRESCRIBED BURN ASSOCIATION

The mission of the Southern Conservation Trust is to elevate nature through exceptional stewardship across over 65,000 acres of conserved land and public lands throughout the southeast for equitable public enjoyment.

SOUTHERN CONSERVATION TRUST

Quail Forever's mission is to conserve quail, pheasants, and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public access, education, and conservation advocacy.

QUAIL FOREVER

NC Sentinel Landscapes is an innovative partnership focused on collaboration and coordination between farmers and foresters, conservationists, and military installations in order to provide mutual benefits to protect the state’s two largest economic sectors: agriculture and defense.

The mission of the Cape Fear River Assembly is to maintain and improve the quality of life in the Cape Fear River Basin by encouraging smart management of the river, its tributaries, and adjacent land use from a basin-wide perspective.

CAPE FEAR RIVER ASSEMBLY

JCA, Inc. is an environmental consulting firm that specializes in protected species surveys, preparation of Biological and Environmental Assessments, wetland delineations, permitting and mitigation, and land management in the Carolina’s and the Southeastern United States.

THE WALTHOUR-MOSS FOUNDATION

The mission of the Fort Bragg Regional Land Use Advisory Commission is to provide a forum for communication, education, analysis, and assistance for local governments surrounding compatible growth and environmental issues, with the overarching mission being to preserve and protect Fort Bragg’s training and operational mission from incompatible civilian development patterns and environmental degradation.
